Dr. Elyssa Scharaga founded Mindful Neuropsychological Services, PLLC in 2020. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York .
Dr. Scharaga is an attending Neuropsychologist at Montefiore Medical Center. She is Head of Neuropsychology Services at the Neuropsychological Assessment Services’ Westchester site. She is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She was previously a Senior Neuropsychologist at the Center for Neuropsychological Services and Infectious Disease at Northwell Health.
She obtained both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in Bronx, New York. Dr. Scharaga completed her (APA accredited) predoctoral clinical training at Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in Northport, New York and a geriatric neuropsychology fellowship at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. Prior to graduate school, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree at George Washington University in Psychology, with a minor in Eastern Religion Studies.
Her clinical and research work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive disorders due to chronic medical conditions (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious diseases). The foundation of her therapeutic invention is in health psychology, including effects of chronic medical conditions on cognitive and mental health functioning.

Dr. Scharaga is an affiliate member of several national and international associations, including the American Psychological Association, the International Neuropsychological Society, American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. Dr. Scharaga is on the Executive Board of the Queer Neuropsychological Society and Education Advocacy Committee of the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology, Division 40 of the American Psychological Association. She has been active in research with several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the fields of psychological and neuropsychological assessment, aging, seizure disorders, and chronic pain.
